iFIX Collector Configuration Check

Things to consider:

  • Are your iFIX collectors a service tasked out in the SCU ?

  • Did you make your historian the default historian server in the Administration tab of iFIX?

  • In the SCU, under tasks, please add the task “iHFIXcollector.exe” this will run the collector as a task when iFIX is starting up. In the command line prompt, please add the line “RUNASDOS”. Restart iFIX after this step is completed.

  • Once that is configured and saved, you will then go to your administration tab in Workspace, click on “Configure Historian”. Then select “configure Historian Server”. From there, add the server name and set as default on the right side of the window. Once the Historian server is located, on the bottom of the window you will find the “Get Collectors”. Select “Get Collectors” and the iFIX Collector should pop up.

  • Open up your historian admin, if done correctly you will see the status “Running” in the collectors section on the main screen of the administrator.

  • To see the tags, go to the “Tags” section and select, “Add tags from collector”. In the browse criteria window, select the collector you wish to get tags from and select “Browse”. This will display the tags that are being collected.

  • Make sure if the iFIX Collector is connecting ro a remote Historian, you install the CLIENT TOOLS inside the Historian ISO so it will connect.

  • Incorrect HISTORIANNODENAME in registry?
    Open regedit
    Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Intellution, Inc.\iHistorian\Services\iFixCollector
Change HISTORIANNODENAME to be the Historian Server name (Visible in the top bar of the Historian Admin) and restart iFix Collector.

  • Open the Historian Administrator > Datastores - Security
    Disable Enforce Strict Client Authentication
    Disable Enforce Strict Collector Authentication
Click Update to save the change
